I have noticed that a pilot may relocate himself either by flying his plane, a leased plane or a VA flight. My question is this: If a pilot relocates by means of a VA flight, does he have to return to the original airport to pick up his plane? Or does his plane "magically" relocate itself to the pilots present position?

The airline flights feature only moves the pilot, not any aircraft. Airline aircraft aren't tracked in the database, so airline flights are a way to move yourself without moving an airplane. This can be useful for ferrying airplanes for yourself or other people- ferry the plane one way, take the airlines back. In the very near future, logging airline flights will also be a way to earn virtual cash to put gas in the tanks of your other planes. Another useful feature of the airline flights is the ability of other users to buy tickets on your flights if you dispatch them in advance. Right now, it's a free ride!
